Our oldest daughter, Evelyn (age 11), has taken four of her favorite poems and turned them into simple, yet meaningful blank note cards. Cost is $1.50 per card or $5 for a pack of 4.
The poems are below (one poem per card):
The Sunset
At end of day, Before the stars.
Comes the sunset, red and gold.
Always coming, Never ceasing,
Never growing old.
Blushing, smiling, At the earth,
Never each other can they hold.
She retreats unto the heavens,
With the stars she could converse,
But to them she’s silent and cold,
For her lover is the earth.
Proud and full of beauty,
The clouds around her, they, enfold.
Brightly shining, the earth is pining,
She’s the blushing beauty, I am told.
The Wind
The wind is blowing through the trees,
Softly rustling their many leaves,
Floating like a ghost through the air,
Dashing here and dashing there.
Lifting paper, spreading seeds,
Giving birds their wants and needs,
Howling through leafless branches,
With the trees, the wind, he dances.
Bearing ships ‘cross oceans and seas,
Blowing the strongest to their knees,
Swirling about in stormy gale,
Crying out in a ghastly wail.
Invisible, just like the air,
Rustling, blowing through my hair,
Not a living eye can see
The wind that’s blowing through the trees.
Whispers
I heard the whispers in my sleep,
Full of joy, joy that’s deep.
I saw the whispers with my eyes,
Their glory reaching to the sky.
I smelled the whispers with my nose,
Smelling like a fresh- bloomed rose.
I tasted the whispers with my mouth,
Tasting like honey from the south.
I felt the whispers in my heart,
Running through me with a start.
And through my senses I did find,
The everlasting God divine.
