Pasture Raised Chicken
Our chickens are moved daily to a fresh pasture “salad bar” which renews the land and grows nutritionally dense broiler chickens. Taste the difference! View our Chicken comparison chart.
Freedom Rangers
Our Freedom RangerTM brand of broiler chicks are a great alternative to fast-growing white broiler chicks or slow-growing heritage breeds. Freedom Ranger chicks grow at a moderate rate, reaching their peak weight of 5-6 lbs in 9 to 11 weeks. These active, robust chicks are suitable for free range, foraging and pasture environments and produce tender, succulent meat with more yellow omega 3 fat and less saturated fat than fast growing breeds.

The Process
Chicks arrive!
Chicks come to our farm just a day old. They are mailed from a hatchery the day they are hatched; sent overnight to arrive bright and early at our local Post Office.
At home in the brooder
Once the chicks arrive to the farm, they are moved into our brooder. Here, the chicks are kept safe and warm as they grow and feathers begin to replace their soft down.
Out of the Brooder
After three weeks of living comfortably in the brooder, the chickens are mostly feathered in – they are ready to handle being out on pasture now. The transition is usually a family affair!
Freedom Rangers in a hoop house
The chicken hoop houses (choops) are moved to a fresh section of grass (or salad & insect bar) at least once a day. Each of our “choops” can comfortably hold 40 chickens. Living in the “choop” full time, protects our chickens from the natural predators that live around the farm, such as raccoons, foxes, hawks, coyotes, and skunks.
